Vinson Family

Austin Vinson, Sr.

Austin (1830-1869) and Evelyn Mantooth Vinson (1833-1893), originally of Tennessee (perhaps Cocke County), came to Angelina County 1856-9, probably at the same time as Evelyn's father Thomas J. Mantooth, who served as Chief Justice of Angelina County. Evelyn was a sister of Lufkin merchant Calvin Mantooth and William Blackburn Mantoon who also lived at Burke. They settled at Renfrow Prairie and Evelyn still lived there in 1880.
